Alpine Penstemon

These high elevation flowers were blooming a week ago at about 11,000 feet. The Alpine Penstemon (Pentstemon davidsonii) is a hardy little plant. The tubular flowers are about an inch long on short stalks and stems. They were common above the Saddlebag Lakes growing in granite areas when I walked up there.
